Basket Strainer

Basket strainers are robust, permanent filtration units designed to remove high volume solid particles such as rust, scale, welding slag, and debris from various mediums. They play a critical role in protecting up and downstream equipment like pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and flow meters preventing frequent shutdown due to clogging. Basket strainers are especially valued for their large filtration area and high dirt-holding capacity, allowing them to handle higher flow rates and heavier contamination loads with minimal pressure drop.

Compared to Y, T and Cone strainers, Basket strainers are better suited for applications where large volumes of debris are expected, to minimise cleaning cycle. They generally provide easier access for basket removal and maintenance, making them more efficient for larger pipeline sizes and industrial service. While duplex strainers offer uninterrupted filtration by allowing one chamber to remain online during cleaning, Basket strainers are often the more economical choice when brief shutdowns for maintenance are acceptable.
