Y-Strainers

Y strainers are compact inline filtration devices designed to remove solid particles such as rust, scale, and debris from flowing liquids or gases. Installed directly in pipelines, Y strainers provide continuous protection for both up and downstream equipment including pumps, flow meters, and heat exchangers. Their simple, space-saving Y-shaped design makes them a widely used solution in oil & gas, petrochemical, water treatment, and general industrial piping systems.

Compared to basket strainers, Y strainers have a smaller filtration area and lower dirt-holding capacity, making them more suitable for applications with lighter debris loads or smaller pipe sizes. Y strainers are more compact and economical for tighter installations. Unlike cone strainers, which are temporary devices used mainly during commissioning or startup, Y strainers are intended for permanent, long-term operation with limitation to pipe size and easy maintanence.
